Our Work

Art therapy is incredibly diverse. Depending on the therapeutic goal, a client could be making a doll to heal the inner child, or creating a body map to explore trauma, and entire lifetimes. Clay might be used to ground and center. Jewelry making might be used to create a mantra/wearable healing.  The opportunities for healing are endless.

Wrap Dolls

Wrap dolls can be a therapeutic art experience used in art therapy to help people recreate themselves in response to trauma, anxiety, or attachment. The wrapping technique uses fabric and yarn without sewing, and the repetitive action can be soothing and relaxing. Wrapping ribbon around the doll can also be meditative and help people connect with their inner selves. Wrap dolls are created here by a young client with a fear of sleeping alone in her room. The doll was created with a special note of encouragement tucked inside. The client was taught self-soothing techniques along with creating and caring for her doll.

Body Mapping

Body mapping is a creative art therapy technique that involves tracing a person's body to create a life-sized outline, which is then used to express personal experiences. The outline can be painted, drawn, or written on, and participants can use colors, pictures, symbols, and words to represent their experiences. Body mapping can help people reflect on and understand their emotions, and can also help them discover their bodies as a source of strength and healing.
