What is Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy therapy that helps individuals express emotions when language feels too complicated. You do not need to be a talented artist to participate in this form of therapy as it's not about the artwork created but the journey in doing so. Art therapists, trained in both art and psychological therapies, work with clients to help them understand certain metaphors seen throughout the creative process. Research shows that art therapy helps people feel more in control, helping decrease feelings of anxiety or depression, and allowing them to explore complex emotions or situations that may be causing distress.
